Southampton have sealed the signing of Albert Gronbaek from Rennes on loan. The 23-year-old, who has two international caps for Denmark, will play for the Saints until the end of the current season.
"Southampton Football Club is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Danish international attacking midfielder Albert Gronbaek from Rennes, subject to international clearance," reads a statement from the club.
He joined Rennes last summer from Bodo/Glimt - where he won two league titles with the Norwegian side, scoring 30 goals in 87 appearances in all competitions - but put in a transfer request just after half a season as he failed to find his footing in the French top flight
On joining the Premier League side, Gronbaek said: “I’m just so excited. It’s a big club and I think the playing style is suiting me very well, so I’m just very pleased to be here. The facilities are very good and the stadium looks incredible. It’s even bigger and better when you come in person, so I’m just so excited to play there. I’m proud to be here."
