After rumours this week that the German striker was set to return to the Premier League, it has finally come to be confirmed. Timo Werner will return to the Premier League and join Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season, the London club have confirmed on their official website.
"We are delighted to announce the signing of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, subject to international clearance. The Germany international will join the Club on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. He will wear the number 16 shirt," read the Spurs' statement.
The former RB Leipzig player signed for Chelsea in 2020 where he made 89 official appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and helping them win a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup in his time with the Blues.
The striker joins a Spurs side in need of an attacker as they have been hit by injuries and the absence of captain Son Heung-Min, who has left for South Korea for the Asia Cup.
