Andre Onana left Inter Milan to join Manchester United until 2028 in the summer of 2023 for a reported 55 million euros.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper arrived at the Red Devils to replace David de Gea, a legend at the English club who decided not to renew his contract and leave after 12 seasons and almost 550 Premier League appearances. Despite the great expectation of the Cameroon international's signing by the fans at Old Trafford, Andre Onana has not lived up to expectations in his first few games for Manchester United.
His incredible mistake that led to Sane's goal in their Champions League's opener against Bayern saw the Red Devils concede three or more goals in three consecutive games for the first time since 1978. However, Dutch coach Ten Hag told a news conference that he is confident the former Inter goalkeeper will be back to his best.
"[In] football on the whole, [there] will always be mistakes and this is one mistake. So we also don't make it bigger than it is.This was not just Andre and then, after that, he made, in the second half, great saves for us and he shows his capabilities and abilities. He will bounce back, and he is a very important player."
