Chelsea are facing a serious problem very early on in the season regarding their attacking line. Mykhailo Mudryk, Christopher Nkunku, Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka are all out with injuries and so Mauricio Pochettino has set about trying to find himself another reinforcement.
As a result, the London club have reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City to sign Cole Palmer, who has been putting in some superb performances in recent games, for £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to reports.
The England playmaker is expected to undergo medical tests on Thursday but his possible new manager has refused to confirm his arrival at Stamford Bridge. "I don't know anything, at the moment. I cannot talk about players that do not belong to us. The club still didn't tell me," Pochettino told reporters.
Elsewhere, Chelsea icon Ashley Cole already spoke of the 21-year-old's incredible skills last season when he was in charge as England U21 coach.
"I've had the pleasure to work with him and see the quality he possesses. He's a very intelligent winger that likes to come off the lines. He's got a bright future. He's on that pathway to the senior team hopefully. He's got the brains where he can isolate you one v one and take you down the line," he claimed.
