Paris Saint-Germain has been given the green light to build a new stadium. After Paris City Council failed to sell the Parc des Princes to the club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi announced last February that they would be leaving their current home.
A step forward was taken on Wednesday regarding the new stadium. It will not be the Stade de France as had been rumoured, but a newly built stadium in the Ile-de-France region.
The government of the region itself has confirmed that it has ceded land to Paris Saint-Germain for the construction of the new stadium, if they leave the Parc des Princes.
It should be recalled that PSG are committed to their current stadium until the end of 2043, when the 30-year lease they signed in 2013 expires.
While there is still no fixed site for the possible construction of the future stadium, it is worth noting that the new location would be more than 30 kilometres away from the Parc des Princes.
