Milan coach Paulo Fonseca praised the role of Alvaro Morata in his team, in addition to his goal against Real Madrid (1-3) and, therefore, pointed out that the captain of the Spanish national team “deserves” his “appreciation”, as he is someone “important” for them. “Alvaro has been excellent not only for the goal: for how he works, the way he has to create opportunities, to create doubts in the opponent.... Everything he does for us is very important and I value it very much. Alvaro deserves our appreciation for everything he does”, he said at the press conference.
Fonseca was proud of his team's win at the Santiago Bernabeu, although he doubted that they would be able to transfer it to Serie A because they face teams with a different style.
“I have to be honest. This type of match is completely different from the one we have in Serie A. This is the Milan that I want. So, if we could be the same team in Serie A, it would be great; but I don't know if it's possible. There are many things that, in Italy, you do and, here, you don't do. Here, you mark all over the field... It's a different kind of game. To say that we can do the same in Italy? I don't know. Today, we played a quality game. This is the Milan I want, we work to do it like this also in Italy,” he valued.
“We are growing in many aspects and this match was more open. We played differently than we are used to because we usually play against closed opponents who defend well; Monza, Cagliari.... they have a different style to Real Madrid, who like to play”, he added.
