Pedri is barely 20 years old and he is already one of Barcelona's key players. The midfielder received the Kubala Trophy as the scorer of the best goal of the 2021-22 season. It was for the goal he scored against Galatasaray in the Europa League.
The award was presented to him by 'Tot Gira' and he gave an interview in which he spoke about several current topics. Firstly, the footballer referred to Sergio Busquets' situation, as it is unknown if he will continue as a Barca player beyond next summer.
"He is a key player. I love playing with him. He's a hard worker, when he's not on the pitch we can feel it and I hope he stays for a long time. I don't know if he has a replacement. It's not my decision. I think the coach will be thinking about it and will talk to him. I don't know his answer but I hope he stays," Pedri said.
"Frenkie De Jong is a player who has a lot of qualities and we have seen him playing in the Netherlands in that position and he is spectacular. He could be a good replacement for Busquets."
Otherwise, the midfielder praised Gavi and emphasised the good relationship they have with each other: "We are always joking both on and off the field. Sometimes we understand each other a lot off the pitch. He is a player with great qualities and we have to teach him to control himself a little bit."
Barca coach Xavi Hernandez recently said that both Pedri and Gavi are better than him and Iniesta: "It's true that they weren't at the level Gavi and I are at our age, but afterwards their level was spectacular and much better than ours. To get to where they were, there is still a long way to go," he concluded.
