Real Madrid's Uruguyan midfielder Fede Valverde claimed that playing in a derby is "the type of game dreams are made of", and proved that the Madrid side are going into the clash with Atletico Madrid "proud" of what they achieved at the Club World Cup.
"Playing this type of game is what dreams are made of. It's a great tie for the players and the fans. We're going to try and win and close the derby out having won the three games", he said to the club's media.
"We're proud of what we've done and that we've been working humbly for the future. We're doing things well. A few games ago we were being criticised a lot, and now we've got to enjoy this moment and work as a team, together. We've still got a lot of the season left and a lot of competitions to win", he added.
With just hours to go until a new derby, Valverde will be spending the final preparations with his son, relaxing with his family and resting to go into the game on top form. "I'm going to play with my child at home and enjoy some family time. I'm going to try and not think too much about the game. We're professional and we know that we have to east well, look after ourselves and rest up".
After going through a hard spell with his partner, the Uruguyan thanked everyone for all the support he received from the Madrid fans. "I want to thank those who stood by me throughout a not-so-good personal time as well as professional, not just in the stadium, but also in everyday life when I was going to collect my kid from school. We'd like to thank everyone: my family, my wife and my child. I want to say to them that this good patch I'm going through now is also for them".
