Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez spoke on Wednesday on the eve of the Champions League match against RB Leipzig about the signings and the squad, but said it was now up to the players to "make a good team".
"We have a great squad, there are a lot of very good players, it's up to us to make a good team. To be a good team we need everyone to have the same commitment, and the same responsibility and, from there, as the boss [coach Diego Simeone] says, game by game, when the season is over we can move on and know how far we can go," he said.
"Playing in the Champions League is very difficult. We have been lucky and privileged to be able to compete in it for so many years. We have to give it the value it really deserves because of how difficult it is to qualify, and also because of the number of teams in La Liga and how difficult they are. Competing in the Champions League is something that almost every player dreams of and we have the opportunity," he added.
"And, from there, we have to hope in the best possible way to bring joy to our fans, as they are always there for us through all the downpours," he concluded.
