Cole Palmer scored a brace as Chelsea drew with Burnley in the Premier League last weekend. The Englishman left the game disappointed that his brace was not enough to secure the victory.
The two goals took the England international midfielder past the 20-goal mark in the Premier League this season and see him join a select club of Blues players who have surpassed that mark, including Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (32), Eden Hazard (20), Cesc Fabregas (21) and Diego Costa (23).
Mauricio Pochettino is pleased with the 21-year-old's form and praised him for taking on so much responsibility in his first season with the London club.
"From day one, he has taken responsibility. In terms of penalties and in the game. When the team is struggling to find solutions, he wants to take the ball," added the Argentinian coach.
"It's been positive for him to play (the number of) matches he didn’t play last year at Manchester City. He has had continuity and consistency and is showing the capacity we thought he could add to the team. It is obvious we are happy with him," said Pochettino.
