The National Police confirmed to 'EFE' sources that they have opened the investigation, but couldn't specify if there were people already identified who shouted racist insults outside the pitch, in several videos posted online that captured the incident.
The Valencian authorities are investigating the racist abuse that was thrown at Vinicius by various spectators within the Mestalla as well, from a particular stand behind the goal.
Sources within the Valencian justice system have reported to 'EFE' that the court is investigating what was in the police report it received, which referred to the insults inside the stadium.
Already, three young men between the ages of 18 and 21 were arrested on charges of inciting hate crime, and the Competition Committee gave the club a five-match closure of the stand, which was later eased to three after an appeal.
The court has summoned the three men arrested to testify on the 19th June as alleged perpetrators of these insults, as well as summoning Vinicius himself on the 27th June as the victim of the crime.
Upon taking over the case after receiving the police report for a possible hate crime, the head of the court also agreed to notify the court in Madrid to allow the Brazilian player to testify from there by video call.
