It is a big evening for German football fans as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund face each other in 'Der Klassiker' in matchday 12 of the Bundesliga. It's the first 'Klassiker' for Kompany and Sahin, as they are both in the midst of their first season with their respective teams after being appointed in the summer.
Ahead of the clash, 10 points separate the hosts from league-leaders Bayern from BVB, who currently find themselves one point away from the Champions League spots. The Bavarians are unbeaten in seven games - since their Champions League defeat to Barcelona - but the 'Yellow-Blacks' seem to have found their footing since their disappointing run of four defeats in five matches. Dortmund have won four of their last five encounters, which included beating third-placed RB Leipzig on home soil, thus making it hard to predict who will come out on top at the Signal Iduna Park.
The hosts will be without captain Emre Can, who is serving the second of a two-match suspension this weekend. Meanwhile, Karim Adeyemi will continue his spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury suffered last month. Julian Brandt is set miss out on the game after being forced off early midweek against Dinamo Zargred with a muscle problem, while defender Sule is in contention to feature following a successful recovery from an ankle issue.
For Bayern, Joao Palhinha and summer signing Hiroki Ito are both ruled out for the showdown due to injuries. The Portuguese suffered a tear in the abductor muscle of his right leg during the international break, whereas Ito has undergone further surgery on a broken foot. Boey and Pavlovic are both nearing a return, with the latter reportedly back in training after a shoulder operation. Josip Stanisic could be out until next year after suffering a knee ligament injury, while Mathys Tel picked up a knock on international duty with France under-21s. Sven Ulreich will also be out due to "personal reasons".
Borussia Dortmund possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Anton, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Nmecha, Gross; Gittens, Sabitzer, Beier; Guirassy.
Bayern Munich possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Musiala, Coman; Kane.
