Eduardo Camavinga picked up a knee injury in training on Sunday evening, Real Madrid's last training session before their European Super Cup clash with Atalanta. The French midfielder was tipped to start for Carlo Ancelotti, who will have to field Aurelien Tchouameni in his place. At least, that is the most likely alternative in a fairly recognisable formation.

Eduardo Camavinga, who was in contention to start the European Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Atalanta, sprained his knee during training on Sunday afternoon. It was Carlo Ancelotti's last test before finalising his starting line-up, in which he is likely to use Aurelien Tchouameni. The former Rennes man is awaiting further tests, but a serious injury has already been ruled out.
So, the 'Merengues' line-up should be as follows: Thibaut Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy; Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde; Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo Goes. 'Los Blancos' coach has already stated that he intended to make room, in his structure, for those who won the Champions League, but this setback, the withdrawal of Toni Kroos and the signing of Mbappe change his plans.
Returning to the French international, he will be left wanting to return to a pitch he has not stepped on since 9th July, when he was eliminated by Spain at the European Championship in Germany. He came on for the final half-hour and could do nothing to prevent goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo to seal the ticket for Luis de la Fuente's side, who would go on to win the title at England's expense.
This is Eduardo Camavinga's fourth season with Real Madrid. In the first, he held a reserve role that changed the following year. In the most recent one, he has accumulated fewer minutes, but a higher proportion of starts. Now, he is in danger of improving his record of presence on the pitch in the start of La Liga, which will be against Mallorca this weekend at Son Moix.
