Premier League teams vote in favour of spending cap

According to reports in England, almost all Premier League clubs agreed on Monday to set a spending limit to make the competition fairer and fairer. Teams such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa voted against. Chelsea reportedly abstained.

The Premier League has been marked this season by the deduction of points for clubs that have breached the rules of profitability and sustainability (PSR) such as Everton and Nottingham Forest.
The English competition board and club representatives met on Monday and agreed in principle on a spending cap. Three clubs voted against while the remaining 16 voted in favour, with one club abstaining from voting.
Their spending limit will be based on television money in order to keep the league competitive and increasingly fair for all clubs. The vote will now go to an Annual General Meeting (AGM) before becoming official.
According to reports in England, Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa reportedly voted against this new measure while Chelsea was the club that abstained from voting.
