Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi made it clear on Tuesday that the Ligue 1 club has no plans to pursue him, calling the reports unfounded. "It’s not true. He’s a fantastic player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest," he told reporters.
"We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true. There are a lot of rumours about players, but we are very clear. We have one of the youngest teams in Europe, if not the youngest, with an average age of 22.5 years. We’re building a team for the future with our amazing coach," Al-Khelaifi concluded.
Meanwhile, Saudi clubs remain the frontrunners to sign the Egyptian star, with some sources suggesting they are preparing to renew their efforts in the January transfer window.
Insiders have hinted that the rumours involving PSG may be a negotiation tactic by the player's agent to increase Saudi bids. For now, Liverpool will be hoping their star man stays committed to the club despite the mounting external pressure.
