A new week means a new turn for Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe. The French club, who have made it clear they want to sell the star this summer after he refused to renew, have now received an official bid from Saudi side, Al Hilal.
According to 'The Athletic', the offer comes in at a record-breaking €300 million, which would also surely include a lucrative salary for Ligue 1's top goalscorer. It's the first official offer to arrive for the striker this summer, as his saga with PSG drags on.
If the deal went through, it would smash Neymar's move to PSG as the most expensive transfer ever in world football. According to French outlet, 'L'Equipe', the Parisian giants would be willing to take the offer, in order to finally get their dream-turned-nightmare out of their hair, but journalist and transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano writes that there have been no talks on the player side.
It's Mbappe's wish to see out the last year of his contract in Paris, before finally securing his long-awaited move to join Real Madrid on free transfer. His refusal to renew with PSG has led him to be excluded from the squad on their pre-season tour, and could possibly see him benched all of next season.
The club's Qatari owners have branded him moving for free as "impossible", making it look likely that they will do all they can to get the striker to take the €300 million offer.
Al-Hilal is one of the Saudi clubs backed by the Public Investment Fund, which has allowed them to make huge offers on their recruitment drive this summer. They have already succeeded in prising Ruben Neves from Wolves, Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea and most recently Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
