Real Madrid will complete a full year without defeat in La Liga on Tuesday. Or what amounts to the same thing, an entire domestic season, 38 consecutive matches, without defeat in the domestic championship. Atletico Madrid, their last league defeat last season.

Real Madrid are celebrating a year without defeat in La Liga, with Alaves as a guest in great form, having gone 38 games unbeaten since losing to Atletico Madrid in the derby at the Metropolitano on 24th September 2023, the same game they face in the next round of fixtures.
With their comeback against Espanyol, Carlo Ancelotti's team equalled the second best unbeaten record in the history of La Liga and when they face Alaves the 'Merengues' want to leave behind the record set by Real Sociedad in 1979. With one objective set by the coach to his players: to score in the first half. Their four games played at the Santiago Bernabeu this season all went 0-0 at half-time.
The request made before facing Espanyol provoked a response with a clear improvement in the first half. However, six shots on target failed to find the net again in the second. Real Madrid have scored 18 goals this term and 17 of them came in second halves.
The pace set by a Barcelona side who are looking strong and who take on Getafe at home, with a six-game winning streak and a 22-goal haul, will require Real Madrid to find consistency. Four points adrift and Ancelotti's side are already measuring their fortunes in a week that will end at the Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid.
