Thibaut Courtois is Real Madrid's talisman. The Belgian goalkeeper, who has shown that his injury is well behind him, is Real Madrid's main argument for victory in the derby.
Since his arrival at Real Madrid, the Belgian goalkeeper has not lost a single official match against his former team. 11 matches, 0 defeats, to which he has to add two more matches in the Chelsea shirt.
He was present in a match won by Atletico Madrid, although he did not take to the pitch. It was on matchday 35 of the 2021-22 season, when Ancelotti chose to rest him and replaced him with Lunin. That match ended in a 1-0 win for Simeone's side.
Since the signing of Courtois for Real Madrid in August 2018, Atletico Madrid have beaten 'Los Blancos' four times. The first of these came just days after the Belgian's arrival, in a European Super Cup in which he was not even called up.
The second 'Colchoneros' victory was the aforementioned in May 2022, while the other two came last season.
