On the occasion of his 500 games with Real Madrid, the institution called Modric to review his career with the 'Merengues'.
“Real Madrid means everything to me, it's part of my life and my family. Real Madrid is a way of being. I was born in Croatia but I feel at home here. I’m grateful for all I’m experiencing at the best club in football history," he said.
The midfielder said it was "incredible" to have reached half a thousand appearances for Madrid: "500 games with Real Madrid... I don't even know what to say. Only few players were able to achieve this, being one of them fils me with great joy and pride."
Modric admitted that he has a special passion for the Champions League. “When you sign for Real Madrid, you know you’re going to a winning club but I never imagined I’d win 5 Champions Leagues. It’s a historic achievement. Five Champions League titles... I had never imagined this. We are not realising what we have achieved. This is something absolutely impressive," he explained.
Finally, he had words for the fans. "The most important thing for me are the fans. At the end, after titles and awards... the fans are the only thing that matters. Madrid fans have always been lovely with me, since the first day. You can't deceive the fans, that's why they're so important. All this love I receive every time I am at the Bernabeu... this is something that gives me joy and pride. I always want to give them back my love, my best," he concluded.
