Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos pointed to “Real Madrid DNA” as one of the keys to taking the victory in a match against Manchester City in which, in his opinion, they created “many chances”.
“It was being an unfair match; from the beginning to the end, we created a lot of chances. With the game under control, there is a dubious play (in which) (the referee) ends up calling a penalty. The match was complicated for us, but we pulled through with Real Madrid's DNA yet again,” he commented on ‘Movistar+’.
“I was annoyed to leave with the score against us. We went out with a bit of fear, but when we saw that they weren't accurate, the team started to believe it a bit more and to move the ball with more speed. It's a pity about their opener, but that's the attitude for the second leg,” he added.
On the other hand, Ceballos praised the team's defensive effort. “I would like to stress that it's not just today: we have been playing very good games. We have to play with this attitude every game. We can't look at our opponents. If the front line run like today, press, if we all run, everything is easier. We are a team capable of beating the best by playing well without the ball,” he said.
