According to 'L'Equipe', Real Madrid's priority when it comes to Kylian Mbappe is still to wait until next year and sign him for free when he's out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Although this is the case, the French press doesn't rule out that Madrid would be capable of making an offer this summer to satisfy PSG's demands, after their ultimatum to the French striker: renew or be sold this summer.

Despite PSG's ultimatum to Kylian Mbappe after leaving him out of their tour of Japan, Real Madrid's priority is still to sign him as a free agent next year, when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires. It is not the Parisian side's preferred option, as they have let their star know that he must either renew his deal in the French capital or leave this summer.
The French side's goal is to make something off the back of their star player's departure if it is inevitable, an impossible scenario if the board let the current transfer window pass.
The 'Merengues', despite the fact that powerful European clubs such as Chelsea and Saudi clubs such as Al Hilal are willing to prepare offers for him that would meet the demands of the Qatari ownership, remain confident that the striker will join them in 2024.
That is not to say that Florentino Perez and his team are not capable of competing with the striker's other suitors. They certainly are. In fact, the accounts for the recently completed financial year warn that the Spanish giants wield sufficient economic power to launch an interesting proposal. What the Spaniards are banking on is that the player's preferred destination is Carlo Ancelotti's squad.
While Mbappe waits for this situation to be resolved, he is training with PSG's discarded players as the rest of the squad spend their first few days in Japan. After finishing his most recent workout, the player stopped briefly to speak to fans, as reported by the French press, and refused to discuss his future at the Parc des Princes. He limited himself to signing shirts and taking pictures with fans.
