Franco Mastantuono has been on Real Madrid's radar for some time. The playmaker, who turns 17 on 14 August, is aware of the interest in the Spanish giants and has already told his agent to prioritise their offer over any other.
According to 'Sport', these days could be key to signing the young player. River Plate vice-president Ignacio Villarroel is said to have travelled to Madrid to talk to 'Los Blancos' about the transfer of his team's gem.
The same media outlet reports that the positions between the player and the Spanish club are very close. Mastantuono has reportedly already given the green light for the salary he is being offered, hence Madrid have started negotiations with River Plate.
But to see Mastantuono at the Santiago Bernabeu will have to wait at least a year. The Spanish side prefer that he continues his training in Argentina and that he makes the leap to Europe, at the earliest, until 2025.
According to 'Sport', Madrid have been talking to River for three months now, but it is only now that the Argentinian side have sent an emissary to try to make progress on the signing of Mastantuono.
