Real Madrid to face Barca, and other giants in Soccer Champions Tour

Although the pre-season might seem like a mere formality until the first official matches of the campaign, there are events to break up the long summer. This is where the Soccer Champions Tour comes into play. First held last summer, featuring legendary teams from Europe and America (like Chivas, Real Madrid and Juventus), the tournament sees, as the name suggests, a tour of the United States, with teams facing off.
The second edition of the tour is back better than ever to test the players after their summer break and see how new signings perform with their squads. Take a look with us at how the competition works here.
The Soccer Champions Tour is a competition organised by several North American companies with the aim of bringing together the best teams in the world for a series of pre-season matches.
The tournament has been held in the USA since 2009, but has been through several names, like the World Football Challenge or International Champions Cup, and some reformatting, eventually giving us the tour that is in its second year this summer.
There are six teams from Europe who will be taking part in the tour this summer:
- Arsenal
- Manchester United
- AC Milan
- Juventus
- Real Madrid
- Barcelona
Here is the fixture list for the matches, with all times in Central European Standard Time (GMT +2):
This year, four of the fixtures will be played in California, two will be in Texas, one will be held in Florida and one will be in Nevada.
As for where to watch, the television rights are yet to be agreed for most of the tour, but it has been confirmed that Spanish channel 'TV3' has bought the rights for the Barcelona matches.
