Real Madrid completed the traditional Christmas training session open to the public on Saturday, in front of 5,700 fans at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, without French players Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy and Spaniard Lucas Vazquez.
The three players trained on their own on an adjoining pitch and, according to 'EFE' sources at the club, Camavinga, who trained with the group on Friday but has suffered a setback in his recovery, and Mendy are out for next Wednesday's match against Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Lucas Vazquez is a doubt and it will depend on how he feels when he is able to join the group once he overcomes the back problems he has been carrying from the last game against Alaves, in which he scored the winning goal (0-1).
In addition, Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba were absent with long-term injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament in their left knee. The session began with a warm-up, followed by a few rounds and shots and crosses at goal.
After 40 minutes, Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior, Dani Carvajal and Arda Guler did specific work with and without the ball to get ready for the game against Mallorca.
To cover for these absences, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who was renewed as Real Madrid coach on Friday until 2026, was able to call on six youth players: goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez; defenders Manu Serrano, David Cuenca and David Jimenez; and midfielders Borja Alonso and Hugo de Llanos.
The 90-minute training session ended with a game on a small pitch, with Ancelotti testing the centre-back pairing that will play in Mallorca, Ruediger with Tchoaumeni, and shots on goal before the players distributed balls to the 5,700 fans who gathered at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.
