Mariano Diaz cannot get a game at Real Madrid and that means he will leave in the summer for free or in January. Therefore, 'Tutto Salernitana' reports that Salernitana have received an offer to play him. He was on Lazio's radar before that so it is not the first time he has been linked with a move to Serie A. Diaz has experience in La Liga and Ligue 1.
Salernitana's sporting director Morgan de Sanctis will make a decision on it this weekend. First, he has to meet with his team to determine the viability of signing a footballer who was very good at scoring for Lyon, but has done nothing since returning to the Santiago Bernabeu. He was at Madrid's age group category teams before playing for the first team.
His contract expires at the end of the current season so the Madrid board will only get money from selling him if he leaves by the end of January. Salernitana have the opportunity to get him now or they could wait until the summer. However, more clubs may want him then as he will be a free agent.
This season, Mariano has only made five appearances for Real Madrid. He has yet to start this term, but it is expected that, as weeks go by, Ancelotti will count on him in less important fixtures. The coach has made it clear that he is taking the Copa del Rey seriously as Lunin was set to start in goal against Villarreal, but Courtois ended up playing instead.
