Real Madrid's penalty curse this season
Real Madrid do not know what it means to score from the penalty spot so far this season. Luka Modric had no luck against Union Berlin. The Croatian missed for the third time from 12 yards after Rodrygo Goes and Joselu Mato missed against Real Celta and Osasuna, respectively.

Real Madrid are moving in the right direction. They follow in Girona's trail in La Liga, they secured a perfect record in the group stage of the Champions League and they will visit Arandina in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey. However, there is a problem that does not seem to have a momentary solution.
Carlo Ancelotti's side have yet to score a goal from the penalty spot this season. Luka Modric missed from 12 yards against Union Berlin. As did Rodrygo Goes against Celta Vigo and Joselu Mato against Osasuna.
The Croatian struck towards the centre of the goal, but Frederik Ronnow pulled off a superb save. As for the other two cases, Ivan Villar guessed the Brazilian's intentions and Sergio Herrera made the No.14's shot at the Santiago Bernabéu more than a bitter one.
It was of no final significance, as victories were achieved in all cases. However, the 'Merengues' need to improve their record if they do not want to get into more trouble than is strictly necessary.
