Liverpool fans will consider the 2022/2023 season a major flop, and football fans, in general, did not expect Jurgen Klopp's men to struggle as they have done in this campaign.

The Reds were on the cusp of winning four trophies in the last campaign and were a dominant force in the European game.
Most football fans expected them to build on that and do even more in this campaign.
They made some changes to their playing staff in the summer and hoped it would make them even better, but on the evidence of their poor showings in this campaign, it is clear to see that it simply did not work as planned.
Klopp's men are struggling to finish this term inside the top four to secure Champions League football next season.
Supporters who buy LFC tickets did not think their team could finish below Newcastle United in a campaign, but that will likely be the case if the Magpies continue their upsurge in achievements.
This means Liverpool must now start planning for next season and we can see that their team is almost ready for a challenge.
In the last few weeks, Jurgen Klopp's side looked to have clicked into the right gear as they won one game after another.
Manchester United and Newcastle are now worried about their resurgence, but no matter where Liverpool finishes this season, they look prepared to win the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp has to rebuild his team and the German has the time to make this Liverpool team as great as the one we saw between 2018 and 2022.
In this article, we look at some key reasons why Liverpool will compete for the EPL title again when the 2023/2024 league campaign begins.
Trent in midfield is a masterstroke.
One of the biggest changes that is driving Liverpool's push for a place in the top four in the last few weeks is the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold as a midfielder.
The Englishman has always had a superb passing range, and he was even trialled as a midfielder by Gareth Southgate in one England game as the gaffer attempted to use that attribute.
Despite having a seriously flawed defensive ability, Liverpool has continued to field him as a full-back and enjoyed his attacking contributions from there.
However, Klopp has given the Englishman a free role from the back, and he operates almost as a midfielder in their recent games.
This has seen Trent return to form, and he now contributes more to Liverpool's goal return with his ability to pick the right pass from anywhere on the pitch.
Next season he will be used in this role more often, and Liverpool might even sign a new right-back so he can move to midfield and influence games more.
This will improve their winning rate, and that is one of the ways you can win the Premier League.
Their Attackers are combining well.
One big problem Liverpool had at the start of this season was the struggles of their new attackers to adapt and combine well with each other.
Darwin Nunez joined the club as a replacement for Sadio Mane, and fans expected him to hit the ground running immediately, but that never happened as he struggled to link up with Mohamed Salah and others in their attack.
The Uruguayan is a superb player, but he did not seem to fit into Liverpool's style of play, and the likes of Luis Diaz could not exactly help him fire.
The Reds added Cody Gakpo to their squad in January, partly because of injuries to the likes of Diaz and Diogo Jota.
The Dutchman initially also struggled to form a potent partnership with other attackers.
However, in the last few weeks, Klopp has managed to find a system that makes them tick and his stars are doing well together even when they play unnatural roles.
In the next campaign, these partnerships will blossom into even better combinations, and Liverpool will get more goals and more points.
Cody Gakpo will recapture his PSV form.
Liverpool added Gakpo to their squad in the January transfer window because of his superb form for PSV.
The Dutchman scored 12 times and provided 12 assists for PSV in the Dutch league last season.
In the first half of this term, he had a superb World Cup for the Netherlands and also provided 12 assists and scored 9 times in just 12 league games for PSV.
This made Liverpool push through a move for him to rescue their season, which was threatening to implode as several of their attackers were injured.
He has six goals and two assists from his first 18 Premier League games for Liverpool, which does not seem like so much.
However, we must consider that Liverpool added him to their squad midway through the season and he did not have a proper pre-season with them.
In the summer, the Dutchman will be a part of their squad preparing for his first full season, and we expect him to do much better.
In the last few weeks, Gakpo has improved despite being used in different positions, including as a number 10.
This is a clear sign that the attacker is one player who will explode in the next campaign and if he delivers the performances he did for PSV in the Netherlands, Liverpool will hardly lose matches.
Klopp has Premier League-winning experience.
A manager's experience is one of the most important factors in the success of every football club.
This is the key difference between the top and bottom clubs in every league pyramid in the world.
When a world-class manager leads a team, their chance of success is much higher than their rivals and that is one factor Liverpool has over some of their competitors.
In the next campaign, they will have Klopp as their manager as he edges towards ten years as their manager.
The German has won all the club trophies possible on the Liverpool bench, and this means he will be able to prepare his team to challenge for the title again.
Klopp has managed one of the most successful Liverpool sides ever and the German will be a key asset for them next term.
In this campaign, Newcastle United and Arsenal have taken full advantage of Liverpool's inconsistency to earn a place inside the top four.
In the 2023/2024 season, Liverpool will have the chance to react and having Klopp on their bench means they have a huge advantage over some clubs who will challenge for the title with them.
We expect to see Liverpool and Manchester City competing for the crown again, as it has been for much of the last decade.
Liverpool will invest in their problem spot in the summer
Although Liverpool signed top players in the last two transfer windows, the Reds will invest in their squad again in the summer.
Their midfield was in terrible shape in this campaign and the Reds have already started sounding out targets about a summer move to Anfield.
They wanted Jude Bellingham in the summer, but the Englishman is moving to Real Madrid after they withdrew to spend that money on more than one player.
Reports have linked them with a move for the likes of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, and we expect one of them to make the move to Anfield.
Liverpool is one of the top sides in the world and will not struggle to land the best talents around even if they do not qualify for the Champions League.
If they make the right signings and prepare well for the next campaign, nothing will stop them from winning the league.
