Phil Foden is in unstoppable form and he stole the show for Manchester City last time out in the Premier League. An incredible performance and a hat trick from the young English striker was enough to fire the Sky Blues past Aston Villa and continue their bid for the title.
In doing so, the 23-year-old Cityzens youth product scored his third hat trick in English domestic competition, something previously achieved by legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard. Moreover, the 21 goals he has scored in all competitions so far have put him on the best goalscoring season of his career so far.
Indeed, Foden's recent form has earned him praise from his manager Pep Guardiola, who said a month ago that he is a world-class talent who is capable of deciding big games, as was the case with his brace in the Sky Blues' win over Manchester United.
"I’m loving my football, playing with a smile on my face,' he told 'TNT' Sports after Guardiola's side thrashed the Villans. I’m just trying to help the team because I know I’m capable of scoring goals. Today I showed that. I set myself [the target of] better than last season. Trying to get more goal contributions. I’m up this year,"he concluded.
