Samu Omorodion is one of the players in vogue at the start of the season. The Porto player scored a hat trick in his recent match against AVS Futebol and now has 15 goals in 13 games. These numbers can open wide the doors of the Spanish National Team for the next call-ups.

Despite the recent success at the last European Championship, the position of No 9 continues to generate doubts in the Spanish national team. Until now, Alvaro Morata has assumed the role of undisputed striker for the national team, although many are already looking for a replacement for the now Milan player, who turned 32 a few days ago.
Spanish football has been producing many great talents in recent times such as Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams or Pau Cubarsi, but the position of centre-forward seemed cursed until now. However, one player is standing out despite his youth and aims to be the spearhead of the senior team in the near future: Samu Omorodion.
An international at youth level, the player trained at AD Nervion and Granada made his breakthrough last season in the ranks of Alaves, a club he joined on loan from Atletico Madrid, who had acquired his services a few days earlier. After his great performance and impressions in Vitoria (8 goals in La Liga in just 1,922 minutes), the player was expected to have his chance at the Metropolitano this season, but fate sent him away from the club.
Samu came within a whisker of Chelsea, but his transfer fell through at the very last minute. In that situation, Porto, one of Portugal's giants, emerged as an ideal destination to take his career to the next level and the figures so far prove the wisdom of his decision.
After a busy summer of Olympic Games action, Samu Omorodion made his debut for his new team on 31st August against Sporting CP. His debut in the 2024-25 campaign was not very exciting, as he did not score a goal and lost 2-0. He returned to winning ways in two duels with the U21 National Team against Scotland and Hungary, but he failed to score in both of them.
However, that last match against the Magyar team would mark a turning point, as since then the corpulent striker, of Nigerian parents, has accumulated figures worthy of top strikers such as Robert Lewandowski or Erling Haaland.

In total, adding his performances with the ‘Dragoes’ and the U21 team, Samu Omorodion accumulates 15 goals in 13 games played, which leaves an average of 1.15 goals per game. A spectacular figure that is even better if we only take into account his time on the pitch, as the native of Melilla adds up these records in just 860 minutes. In other words, the player scores a goal every 57.33 minutes or 1.57 goals for every 90 minutes on the pitch.
The numbers speak for themselves. Well, rather, they shout from the rooftops that Spain has a striker for a while. Now he only needs Luis de la Fuente to call him for the first time to make his debut with the senior team.
