Barcelona midfielder Pedri said on Thursday, after renewing his contract until 30 June 2030, that playing for the Azulgrana was the dream he had had since he was a child and that extending it "is the most beautiful thing" that has happened to him.
"I'm very happy. This is the nicest thing that has happened to me in a long time. I'm happy to renew and to be where I want to be. Now, to continue enjoying football and being here at Barca," said the Spanish international in statements to the club's media.
Pedri, whose previous contract expired on 30 June 2026, said he is "really enjoying" his time at the Azulgrana, who he joined in the summer of 2020 at the age of 17 from Las Palmas.
"I've dreamt about it since I was a little boy and reality always surpasses dreams," insisted the Tenerife player, who revealed that “it had been a long time” since he had felt as good as he has this season, in which he has overcome the injury problems that had plagued him in the previous three seasons and is “enjoying football”.
Pedri said that the confidence that the club has placed in him "means a lot" and pointed out that "now we have to repay that confidence on the pitch, and above all play as well as possible and win titles, which is what this Barca is made for".
"We have a good team, especially a very young one, which in a few years' time will be even better. There are very nice things to come for Barca fans, and for me as a Barca fan what I want is to enjoy and give joy to the fans," he claimed.
