River Plate boss Martin Demichelis on Bayern Munich radar

Argentine Martin Demichelis, currently at River Plate, is among the candidates to take over from Thomas Tuchel as Bayern Munich coach, according to Munich daily 'TZ'.
The club agreed with Tuchel to terminate his contract at the end of this season and, since then, the race for the succession has been on.
The initial favourites were Xabi Alonso, who renewed his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and Sebastian Hoeness, who renewed his contract with Stuttgart, both of whom were ruled out.
The possibility of the return of Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, who has announced his intention to stay on after the European Championship, was then reported. Several names are currently being mentioned, including Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi and Ralph Rangnick.
Demichelis played for Bayern between 2003 and 2010 and also began his coaching career in the Bavarian club's youth set-up, where he stayed between 2019 and 2022. He then signed for River Plate and was crowned Argentine champion with the Buenos Aires club in 2023.
