Manchester City midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez has insisted he intends to return to action this season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury to his knee in September.
The Spaniard, who was awarded the Ballon d'Or a few days ago, intends to return ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States between June and July.
"My goal is to return this season. I haven't given up, but I don't want to make any mistakes either. My goal is to be back in six or seven months," Rodri told “The Rest is Football” podcast.
"I'm much better than I thought I would be. Enjoying the rest, if that's possible. When I got injured, I didn't feel a crack, the knee was stable. I thought it wasn't going to be too serious, but now I'm positive. The first month and a half was bad in terms of pain, I couldn't walk, but now it's easier," he added.
Rodri's injury has coincided with Manchester City's worst spell in decades, with six consecutive games without a win, including five straight defeats.
