Manchester City midfielder Rodri said he is staying positive as he continues with his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered earlier in the season. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner has been sidelined with a major injury since City's 2-2 draw with Premier League rivals Arsenal on September 22 - almost five months ago.
"Well, I always say, it's part of life. Injuries, athletes are used to these kinds of things," said the Spaniard to the microphones of Sky Sports as he made a surprise appearance at Sunday night's Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. "But I'm a very positive guy in the sense that I take it what it is. I always thank God for everything and in these kinds of moments try and be positive."
Rodri revealed that he has been using his spell off the pitch to spend time with his loved ones as well as to work on coming back stronger than ever. "And maybe do other stuff that I'm not used to doing, like coming here, spending more time with your family and why not try to improve other parts of your body, work on that and come back stronger," he added.
Although Rodri was projected to miss out on the remainder of the season, recent reports have indicated that he could be eyeing a return in the closing stages of the campaign. The 28-year-old was included in Pep Guardiola's shortlist for the Champions League, meaning he could have a chance to partake should City progress further into the competition. The Sky Blues can secure a place in the knockout stages if they beat Real Madrid in the play-off tie.
