There has always been the eternal debate of who has been the greatest player of all time. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have maintained an incredible rivalry for more than 15 years at the top of football during the golden era of La Liga.
Cristiano Ronaldo spoke at a press conference ahead of Portugal's EURO qualifiers about his rivalry with the Argentinian over the years and made clear the respect he has for the winner of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
"If you like Cristiano, you don't have to hate Messi. We changed the history of football, and we continue to do so. He is following his own path, just as I am following mine, regardless of whether we play outside Europe," said the former Madrid man.
"The rivalry? I don't see stuff like that, we shared the stage for 15 years! I don't say we're friends, but we respect each other," concluded the Portuguese.
