Cristiano Ronaldo is more than a global sporting influence. The Portuguese striker, in the middle of a poor run with Al Nassr, took advantage of a marketing strategy and opened his new YouTube channel: ‘UR - Cristiano’.
The footballer's proposal on social networks had a stratospheric reception in the first few hours. The channel was created on 8 July, but it was on Wednesday that he launched his first 18 videos. Some were motivational, others closer to his career and even a challenge of questions with his partner, Georgina Rodriguez.
As expected, Cristiano Ronaldo broke records in terms of subscriptions. He reached 100,000 in just minutes and surpassed one million subscribers in less than two hours. So much so that he already has more than 14 million subs and will continue to grow.
Marketing reason or not, the Portuguese star opens a new window for his personal brand to expand beyond the pitch. He will have a team in charge of the channel, but he will make the decisions and the direction of the content he uploads on YouTube.
