Mohamed Salah has defended his teammate Darwin Nunez against the constant criticism he's faced since arriving at Liverpool. Speaking during a recent Q&A with Reds fans, Salah urged supporters to give the Uruguayan time to adapt and continue backing him as he shows flashes of his talent at Anfield.
When asked which player he enjoyed playing with the most during his time at Liverpool, the Egyptian reflected on his connection with former teammate Roberto Firmino during his years in the Premier League. However, he revealed that now, he particularly enjoys playing alongside Nunez.
"Who do I most like to play with? It was Firmino. Now I feel like I generally like playing with Nunez. A lot of people don't like him but I like playing with him. I see Bahaa (the man who asked the question) keeps shaking his head not liking [Nunez]," he said.
"Nah (laughing), I like playing with him in general. [Nunez is] a player with different skills. Not a lot of people understand his ball," Salah added. Nunez has faced scrutiny for inconsistency in his performances and struggles in front of goal, but Salah believes his determination and skill are helping him adjust.
