Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was nominated among the 30 best players in the world to win the 2023 Ballon d'Or. However, the Egyptian finished eleventh in the final rankings.
The 31-year-old had a superb season last campaign and helped his current team reach the European places in the Premier League table, scoring 30 goals and providing 16 assists in 51 competitive matches.
Nonetheless, his efforts were not enough to make it into the top five of the Ballon d'Or's best players. But that doesn't matter to Salah because he already considers himself the best player in the world.
"At the end of the day it’s people’s opinions, but in my mind, I’m the best player in the world, that’s what I say to myself. I can’t say that I don’t want to win the Ballon d’Or or FIFA’s The Best, of course, I want to win either of them," he told 'MBC'.
He went on to add: "But if I don’t win either of them, there is no problem. Everything I want, I usually get. I know that I will win either of them later, I’m not worried."
