Atletico Madrid took all three points from their visit to Osasuna in La Liga matchday 19 and, if they did so, it was thanks to Saul Niguez's goal, assisted by Rodrigo de Paul. The Spaniard spoke to the 'Movistar' microphones to comment on the performance of the 'Colchoneros', which he believes was the result of "immense work", as well as that of their opponents, whose effort he praised. He also set his sights on the Champions League.
"It was a very important victory after the tough defeat in the Copa del Rey. The team did an immense job, coming back to compete after three days. Osasuna played a great game, they made things very difficult for us," he said.
"The defeat in the Copa del Rey against Madrid? It's totally different. We have to focus on the Champions League, which is our objective. My playing time? I always try to make things difficult for the coach," he added.
Asked to explain his goal, he said: "I looked forward and I saw that De Paul was going to receive the ball, I saw that there is space between the full-back and the centre-back and that there is space between the lines and I checked-out if the goalkeeper was coming out, I hesitated whether to control with my chest or with my foot. And then, at the moment I was inside the box, I didn't think too much, I thought: 'I'm going to smash it and where it goes'.
