Scaloni, Aimar and Walter Samuel all played in the final in which the 'Albiceleste' beat Uruguay 1-2 in 1997 with goals scored by Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Quintana.
In the match at the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the current Argentina coach played 84 minutes and was replaced by Diego Rodriguez, while Samuel played the entire match.
Aimar was on the bench and came on with 36 minutes remaining in place of Quintana. That squad, coached by Jose Pekerman, had Leo Franco and Juan Roman Riquelme.
Four years after becoming coach of Argentina's first team, Scaloni celebrated with Aimar and Samuel, his third title in the national team after winning the Copa America 2021 against Brazil at the Maracana and the Finalissima at Wembley against Italy.
