Scalvini has torn his cruciate ligament - Gatti replaces him for Euro 2024

The last Serie A game of the season will not bring back good memories for Giorgio Scalvini. The Italian defender had to leave the Gewiss Stadium injured and says goodbye to his first European Championship.
Scalvini suffers a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The injury has ruled him out of the European Championship and he is unlikely to return to action until 2025.
The 20-year-old defender has had a great season, crowned by winning the Europa League. The Italian has made 44 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists, but the highlight has been his consolidation in the starting eleven and his good defensive role.
On the other hand, after the confirmed absence of the ‘Nerazzurri’ defender, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has called up Federico Gatti as a replacement. The Juventus player will make his debut in a European Championship after having already made his debut in the last UEFA Nations League.
