Serbia coach Dragan Stojkovic said Wednesday that the match against Spain tomorrow in Belgrade will be “difficult” against “a football powerhouse”, but also a challenge for his players to justify their presence in the national team, in which there will be numerous absentees.
“Spain is one of the best teams in the world. In Europe they have already proved that. It is an amazing union of talents in one place, and they have superiority in the technical sense,” Stojkovic told a press conference ahead of tomorrow's Nations League clash.
“There is no one, including the goalkeeper, who does not control the ball in a way that everyone would like. (Spain) is a footballing powerhouse,” the coach added.
Stojkovic considered that the absence of Rodri Hernandez and Alvaro Morata will not change anything in the “style” of play of their opponents, who have “numerous quality players”.
“It will be a difficult match, but at the same time an excellent opportunity for us, for our players, to show that they rightfully are in the Serbia national team,” Stojkovic said, while acknowledging major problems in the squad.
