Sergio Ramos almost went on target twice in his debut for Monterrey last week against San Luis. Still, he made it up by finally opening his Mexican account in the early hours of Monday's clash against Santos Laguna.
The former Real Madrid defender found the back of the net with his usual deadly header as he directed Sergio Canales' cross past goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo in the 57th minute of the game.
Spanish midfielder Canales then turned goalscorer as German Berterame and Gerardo Artaege also put their names on the scoresheet to seal a 4-2 win for 'Los Rayados' at the Estadio BBVA.
Aldo Lopez and Bruno Barticiotto were the scorers for the visitors, but it was not enough to prevent Monterrey from earning three points. The win put them in 9th place, while Laguna languish at the bottom of the Mexican Clausura table.
"Happy for the three points in a hard-fought win and for my first goal with this shirt. Thanks to the fans for their support. Let's go Monterrey," wrote the No. 93 centre-back on his social media platforms after the match.
