The future of the Sevilla bench is close to becoming official, barring a drastic turn of events. Garcia Pimienta became the main candidate as he will not continue next year at Las Palmas. Although other names have come up, such as Diego Martinez, the board focused their efforts on closing in on the Catalan coach.
According to reports in Spain, both parties have already reached an agreement for Garcia Pimienta to become the next coach. Sevilla FC's financial situation meant that there was little room for manoeuvre in the operation, but in the end the Barcelona academy-trained coach will land in Seville.
Pimienta will sign for one year plus an optional one, depending on the objectives. Although these objectives have not been revealed, they are likely to be based on European qualification, which in the Andalusian capital is considered non-negotiable if the project is to get off the ground. Sevilla hope to make it official next week and focus exclusively on the players' market.
A new step in the reconstruction of the La Liga club, but one that still has a long way to go. Although many aspects are already being clarified, such as the renewals of Nyland and Isaac Romero and the departure of loan and contract expiring players, the most important challenge lies ahead for the sporting management.
A large number of incoming and outgoing movements are expected and they are likely to last until the end of the market like last summer.
