The Argentine right back of Sevilla Gonzalo Montiel announced on Monday that he has been “dismissed from a false accusation” in a case of alleged sexual abuse after a complaint against him that he suffered.
Montiel, through his social networks, said that he “sympathizes with people who suffer situations of abuse in any form” but that “the lie that was tried to be installed” against him “meant the trivialization of an evil that seriously affects many people in the world”.
The World Cup winner with Argentina, who recognizes that this accusation has harmed his sports career and also his family, was subjected, last September, to a psychological expertise before the Justice of his country in the framework of a case for alleged aggravated sexual abuse.
Montiel travelled, then, especially to Argentina to appear before the Prosecutor's Office of La Matanza (Buenos Aires province), although the football player's defence said to have presented “compelling evidence” proving his innocence.
The facts denounced referred to January 1st, 2019, during a birthday celebration of Montiel, and consisted of “sexual abuse with carnal access aggravated by a group of people” in the player's house, as indicated then by Hermida Leyenda, lawyer of the complainant.
