Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer have been spotted outside Old Trafford on Monday ahead of vital talks regarding Erik ten Hag's future as Manchester United manager. The Dutch coach has been under ramping pressure following successive disappointing results in this opening of the season. The Red Devils have only won two of their seven Premier League games thus far with the team currently sitting in 14th position on the table.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe was present to observe United's 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday alongside Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth and Sir Dave Brailsford. Nonetheless, the INEOS chief insists that the United's boss sacking is not his decision to make. “I like Erik. I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects," he told 'BBC'.
"But that team that’s running Manchester United has only been together since June or July," he continued. "They weren’t there in January, February, March or April – Omar [Berrada, CEO], [sporting director] Dan Ashworth - they only arrived in July. They’ve only been there…you can count it in weeks almost - they’ve not been there a long time so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions. Our objective is very clear - we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously - that’s very clear.”
According to 'The Mirror', former United defender Gary Neville was also present on Monday. The gathering will reportedly also involve discussions regarding the future of Old Trafford, as decision-makers must decide whether to invest into improving the stadium or building a whole new venue. Reports also claim that a final meeting will be held on Tuesday, where a definitive decision on Ten Hag will be made.
