The Calgiari has sold out for the match against Fiorentina, Claudio Ranieri's last as coach.
The farewell to Ranieri, who announced his departure from the club where he began his coaching career in 1988, will be a huge crowd at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari.
Up to 5,000 fans gathered there to cheer on their coach in training, to whom they dedicated a large banner with the message "Eternal recognition to a great man, thank you Mister". The coach wore a T-shirt given to him by the fans as a tribute with his face on the front and the above message screen-printed on it.
"It's a painful, difficult decision that I took reluctantly, but the right thing to do is to leave now. I prefer to leave like this and not stay for another year and have things not go well," he told the club's official channels.
Ranieri, former coach of Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Leicester City, with whom he won a historic Premier League, will always be remembered in the city of Cagliari. The Italian is an honorary citizen after leading the team to Serie A and saving them on two occasions.
