After missing out on Tottenham's last two fixtures against AZ in the Europa League and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Son Heung-min is also likely to be ruled out for Wednesday's clash against Man City in the EFL Cup.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed that while Son is "almost fit", he is unlikely to feature in the game. Son was forced off the pitch in Tottenham’s 3-0 victory over Qarabag last month due to a hamstring discomfort. The 32-year-old then returned to the starting line-up in his side's 4-1 victory over West Ham on October 19th, but has not played since. "We're quite confident he'll be right for the weekend," said Postecoglou, expecting Son to be ready for the league game against Aston Villa on Sunday.
However, the injury news don't end there for Tottenham, as the Australian manager also confirmed that striker Wilson Odobert, who was already ruled out due to injury, has now suffered a set-back. "The only other one missing out which is a bit of a disappointment is Wilson, who has had a setback during the week and it seems like it is a serious one so we're just waiting for more information," Postecoglou told reporters during the press conference ahead of the Manchester City clash.
Odobert sustained a hamstring injury on September 18th against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup. The player had made his return in the final minutes of Tottenham's 1-0 victory over AZ last Thursday, but will now be sidelined again after suffering the set-back. With Son and Odobert ruled out, Timo Werner and Mikey Moore will be competing for a starting position on the left wing against City.
