The presence of Dani Olmo, absent due to muscular discomfort in Spain's two preparation matches ahead of Euro 2024, was the surprise of the first training session of the Spanish National Team at its base camp in Germany, with great expectation in the town of Donaueschingen.
The stands of the SV Aasen Sports Centre were too small for the number of people who turned out for the arrival of the Spanish national team. Around 300 had a seat in an extra tier, but dozens were left at the entrance without being able to get in. Some fans climbed trees to see what they could of the training session and others tried to watch from the outside.
The 26 Spain internationals had their first taste of the pitch on which they will train on a daily basis. Before the three group matches against Croatia, Italy and Albania, the Spanish national team will not train at the stadium where the games will be played.
It was a soft session lasting just over an hour, with the ball, with which the Spanish national team resumed training after spending Sunday recovering from their last friendly and the trip from Palma de Mallorca to Donaueschingen, with a previous landing in Stuttgart. The players carried out touch and pressure exercises in various modalities, divided into groups.
Afterwards, they played intense games on reduced dimensions that allowed De la Fuente to test players and draw conclusions. Dani Olmo was one more player and showed that he is fit enough to play minutes after overcoming some muscular discomfort in his calf.
