Spain to face Italy, Croatia or Netherlands in Nations League last-eight

Luis de la Fuente's side will find out their opponents in this innovative quarter-final round of the Nations League on Friday. The matches will in theory take place on 20th and 23rd March 2025 and it is likely that the Spanish national team will play the second leg in Valencia as a gesture of solidarity with those affected by the floods.

Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands are Spain's possible opponents in the quarter-finals of the Nations League. The draw will take place on Friday 22nd November and the Spanish national team, the group winners, will face one of the second-placed teams in this first phase, with the return leg at home thanks to these initial results.
On Friday 22nd November, Spain will know their opponents in the quarter-finals of the Nations League, in the debut of the new format of the competition, a round to which they reached with a strong showing in Group A4. Luis de la Fuente's side qualified with two games to play and were mathematically group winners with a game to spare.
With 16 points from a possible 18, conceding only a goalless draw in Serbia, reigning Nations League champions Spain were the team with the most points on their way to the quarter-finals. Portugal, with 14, France and Germany - the latter with one match remaining - both with 13, also finished top of their groups.
Croatia, in Group A1; Italy, who let the lead slip on the last day when they were surprised at home by France in Group A2; and the Netherlands, in Group A3, are the countries that finished second and possible opponents of the Spanish team in the quarter-finals, the first leg of which will be played on 20th March and the second leg on 23rd March, possibly in Valencia in a gesture of solidarity for the victims of the floods.
