Spain's Eric Garcia spoke ahead of Spain's debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and said they want "the gold", as they have "the thorn in their side from Tokyo" in 2021. The centre-back, like Juan Miranda, will be playing in his second Olympics, as he was part of the team that won silver in Japan.

Barcelona and Spain international footballer Eric Garcia said he is aiming for the gold in his second Olympic Games. After winning silver at Tokyo 2020, the Catalan also said he left with a thorn in his side.
"We want the gold. We have a thorn in our side from Tokyo. Winning a medal is always a positive thing, but if it's gold, so much the better," he said in statements released by the RFEF on its official channels.
Eric Garcia and Juan Miranda, since the Olympic football tournament is limited to Under 23 players with 3 exceptions, will become the only Spanish players with 2 participations in the Olympic Games.
He also wanted to thank his coach, Santi Denia, for this second call-up: "Since we were U16s, we have been European U17 and U19 champions and runners-up in the World Cup. We know each other very well, he is a coach who has had a great influence on me since I was a child and to be able to be here with him is something very nice".
